Pretium is an AI-powered stablecoin payment infrastructure that bridges blockchain ecosystems with mobile money and banking rails across Africa making stablecoins such as USDC and USDT spendable on everyday payments, from merchant transactions at supermarkets and grocery stores, to utility bills like rent, water, and power and cross-border transfers. We are currently operational in 6 African countries including Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, DR Congo and Malawi.
We distribute our product and services through three ways: a consumer mobile app, a B2B API for businesses and a payments layer for AI agents that enables AI agents to autonomously execute fiat / stablecoin payments.
We are on a mission to make stablecoins usable for everyday life and business across Africa, bridging crypto rails to the mobile money systems and bank rails people already trust.
Problem 1: Limited real-world usability of stablecoins
Despite widespread adoption, stablecoins are mostly used for trading and speculation, with limited infrastructure that enables seamless use for everyday, real-world payments.
Problem 2: Fragmented & unreliable payment rails
Existing payment systems are siloed across countries, currencies, and networks, making it difficult to bridge stablecoins with local payment rails efficiently and at scale.
Problem 3: High friction for builders and businesses
Merchants face complex integrations, compliance hurdles, and liquidity constraints when trying to accept or settle stablecoin payments in real-world use cases.
We are building an AI-powered stablecoin payment infrastructure that bridges existing payment rails with the blockchain ecosystem, powering cross-border payments, merchant payments, and bill and utility settlements.
